- Brother-in-law of Jason Lively, Lori Lively, Eric Lively and Blake Lively.
- Son-in-law of Ernie Lively and Elaine Lively.
- He spent much of his early childhood on television sets with his mother Charlene Johnson, who was a hairstylist for shows including "Mork & Mindy" (1978), "The Brady Bunch" (1969) and "Charlie's Angels" (1976). He moved with his family from Los Angeles, California to Park City, Utah, when he was twelve years old.
- He knew he wanted to be an actor after performing in his high school production of "West Side Story."
- He studied pre-med at the University of Utah graduating with a bachelors of science degree. He also attended Yale University's prestigious School of Drama. At Yale he performed in stage productions of "Hedda Gabler" and "Cherry Orchard."
