He is best known for his portrayal of Dr. Victor Ehrlich on the television series "St. Elsewhere" (1982), for which he received an Emmy nomination during each viewing season.
Son of Ed Begley.
Involved in enviromental affairs, he was named to Environmental Affairs Commission in 1993, and the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy in 1994.
He used to appear on a US radio soap called 'Milford Haven' with fiance, Mara Purl. They had their future marriage vows blessed in the town of the same name in Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK. Vows that were sadly never completed.
Is a vegetarian.
He quit his job as the Los Angeles Environmental Commissioner when he realized that he was destroying trees by all the paper the commission was using.
Children: Amanda, Nick and Hayden.
