Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. He began his career there as a comedian on the cabaret scene. In the late seventies he moved to Toronto, Canada where he pursued improv comedy and theatre. His first leading professional role was as Richard in Harold Pinter's, "The Lover". He went on to play many leading roles across Canada. In 2001/2002 he starred as Henry Higgins in "My Fair Lady" for which he received his third best actor nomination. Gerard lives in L.A. and also has a home in Vancouver, Canada.
