Biography
Best remembered for playing plucky cub reporter Jimmy Olson in all four of the Superman films that starred Christopher Reeve, Marc McClure made his film debut in the Disney film Freaky Friday and in the television movie James at 15 (both 1977). He went on to play supporting roles and occasional leads in both venues. In 1979, McClure starred in the short-lived TV series California Fever.
Appeared as "Dave McFly" in Back to the Future Part II (1989), but his part was cut from the final release and left on the cutting room floor. He was in a scene where Marty encounters his drunken brother in front of Biff's Pleasure Paradise in the alternate 1985.
Played Dave McFly in Back to the Future (1985) and Back to the Future Part III (1990). In both films, his screen sister Linda McFly was played by Wendie Jo Sperber. McClure and Sperber both co-starred in I Wanna Hold Your Hand (1978) and Used Cars (1980). All four films ("Back to the Future," "Back to the Future Part III," "I Wanna Hold Your Hand," and "Used Cars") were written by Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis, and directed by Robert Zemeckis.
Played a character named "Boris" in both the original Freaky Friday (1976), and the remake Freaky Friday (2003).
Along with Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder, and Jackie Cooper, he is one of only four actors to appear in the first four Superman films: Superman (1978), Superman II (1980), Superman III (1983), and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987).
Is the only actor to appear in all four "Superman" films as well as Supergirl (1984).
